LA to San Diego

I-5 from the East LA Interchange to Front Street in downtown San Diego, through Anaheim, Irvine, Dana Point, Camp Pendleton and Oceanside. Four primaries are Electrify America sites with 6 to 12 chargers at 350 kW and the last is EVgo's 200 kW hub on Midway Drive, all confirmed on the network's own locator. 26 of 26 Tesla sites carry an access flag from Tesla Find Us (16 open to all EVs, 10 Tesla only).

EA's Target site in Buena Park, about 4 miles back, is the verified backup, and the Tesla site at Anaheim Plaza next door is open to all EVs with a NACS adapter.

  • Wendy's, 3760 Midway Drive, is about 75 meters on foot from the EVgo hub (OSRM foot routing). Wendy's location page lists restaurant and drive-thru hours of 8:00 AM to 12:00 AM daily. The page does not list restrooms.
  • Vons, 3645 Midway Dr, is in Point Loma Plaza with the EA backup, about 0.3 mile on foot (about 6 minutes, OSRM foot routing). Vons' store page lists store hours of 6:00 AM to 12:00 AM daily. The page does not list restrooms.
  • Nearest official public restroom: Bill Cleator Community Park comfort station, 2312 Famosa St. The City of San Diego restroom map lists it as open, 7:00 AM to dusk, cleaned daily.   1. Camp Pendleton: DOE lists no open DC site within 1.5 miles of I-5 from mile 58 in San Clemente to mile 78 in Oceanside, about 21 miles. Leave Dana Point or San Clemente with enough charge to reach Oceanside. Source

Irvine Spectrum (loc 15593), Carlsbad Paseo Del Norte (CarlsbadCAsupercharger) and Oceanside Mission Square (loc 19880) were confirmed on Tesla Find Us in a headed browser visit: each shows "NACS adapter needed for non-Tesla EVs", 24/7, and "NACS Partner Site". Several Tesla only sites in Buena Park, Mission Viejo and downtown San Diego list 72 kW, not 250 kW. Source
